ABOUT OUR PHILODENDRON SCANDENS
Hi, I’m Deborah. I’m the sort of plant that is so loved they named me twice. I go by the name Philodendron Scandens and the sweetheart plant. My glossy leaves and low maintenance reputation have made me very popular amongst keen houseplants owners and plant novices alike. My tall and slender figure means you can place me in the corner of your living room or hallway. Although I prefer a bright spot, I’m still happy in a room that has less natural light. I’m more likely to produce new growth in a brighter spot.
My family consists of over 400 species. Many of my brothers and sisters make good indoor plants due to their no-fuss, pretty foliage. I’m a natural climber and will attach myself to tree branches, rock crevasses and just about anything I can get my vines on. You can find my species all over the tropics from the Caribbean to South America where we grow under the canopy of large tropical trees.

A popular easy care plant that can tolerate medium light, light watering and regular household humidity.
LIGHTING
I can survive in medium light but will grow faster in a well lit room.
WATERING
I’m quite drought tolerant and can go a few weeks at a time without water. Make sure my soil dries out before you water me again.
HUMIDITY
I’m not one to fuss over humidity. A light mist on my leaves will do the trick to keep my foliage fresh.
FERTILISER
I’m a fast growing plant and will benefit from a monthly dose of fertiliser in the spring and summer.

How do you care for Philodendrons?
The Philodendron Scandens is an easy care houseplant and is ideal for anyone new to the houseplant world.
Place him in a well lit or medium lit room between 16-25°C. Check his soil every week to make sure it is still moist and only water when the first few inches of soil is dry. Don’t worry if you forget to water your Philodendrons - they’re quite drought tolerant.
The Philodendrons won’t mind being placed in a draughty hallway or near an open window. They're hardy plants that won’t mind a cool breeze.
Do Philodendrons need sunlight?
All plants need some natural light to survive. The philodendron will tolerate lower light conditions as long as there is at least one window providing some natural light. He’s the perfect happy-go-lucky plant that will put up with all types of lighting.
Are Philodendrons good indoor plants?
Yes, this Philodendron is very suited to indoor living conditions. The indirect light and mild indoor temperatures are the perfect environment for your Philodendrons to survive. Unlike many tropical plants, Philodendrons will not fuss over high levels of humidity and will tolerate normal household humidity.
